Hey there! I’m Malynne Smith (she/her)
A singing actor based in NYC with a love for storytelling and a passion for helping create a theatre world that’s more accessible, inclusive, and reflective of the world we actually live in.
Theatre has always felt like a space where people can connect, be surprised, and see things from new perspectives — and that’s the kind of work I’m drawn to.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, where I went to the 6–12 Creative and Performing Arts Academy and got to explore the creative world from an early age. Later, I earned my BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of the Arts, where I fell in love with new works and collaborative creation.
Since moving to the city, I’ve had the chance to work on developing shows like Maguires in Mineral Bluff (New York Theater Festival) and LEAVES (Theater for the New City). I’ve also teamed up with TheaterWorksUSA on two national TYA tours and one Off-Broadway run of CatKid Comic Club at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
Whether I’m helping develop something brand new with fellow theatre-makers or performing for a room full of future artists, I show up with curiosity, care, and a collaborative spirit.
